Immufix · 10 October 2026 · 6 min read

The 2027 ballot has closed, but it is not the only way in. Here is every entry route London Marathon Events lists, what each one asks of you, and the deadlines that are still ahead.

Quick answer. You qualify for the 2027 London Marathon with a Good for Age or championship time run on a certified course between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026. Good for Age applications close at 16:00 GMT on Thursday 29 October and championship applications at 16:00 BST on Tuesday 20 October. It is too late for the 2027 ballot, which closed on 1 May 2026 and will not be reopening, but the ballot page says "a limited number of charity places are still available".

How do you qualify for the London Marathon?

With a fast enough marathon time. There are two qualifying routes, and both run on fastest-first selection once the places are full.

Good for Age. The Good for Age page caps 2027 places at 6,000: 3,000 men and 3,000 women. Only UK residents can apply. Your time must come from a course certified by UK Athletics, AIMS or a national governing body, or from the virtual TCS London Marathon MyWay. The page is clear that "Meeting the qualifying time will not guarantee a place but simply the opportunity to submit an application." Your age group is the age you were when you ran the time.

2027 Good for Age marathon times, from London Marathon Events. If your only qualifying time is from MyWay, you also need an in-person half marathon time from the same window: sub 1:44:23 for women and sub 1:23:37 for men aged 18 to 39, with slower standards by age.

Championship. The championship page caps places at 1,200: 600 men and 600 women. You must be a registered, affiliated member of a UK athletics body. The application times are sub 2:38:00 for men and sub 3:10:00 for women over the marathon, or sub 1:11:30 and sub 1:26:00 over the half. A half marathon time only counts if you have never run a marathon, or your marathon time sits outside the window. UK residents who miss out may be offered a Good for Age place, if they applied with a marathon time.

In 2027 the men's championship and Good for Age races are on Saturday 24 April, and the women's on Sunday 25 April.

Is it too late to enter the London Marathon?

For the ballot, yes. For several other routes, not yet. This is where each one stood on 10 October 2026, from the official pages:

  • Ballot: closed at 16:00 on Friday 1 May 2026. Results went out on Thursday 9 July and successful runners had until 16:00 BST on Friday 31 July to confirm.
  • Championship: open until 16:00 BST on Tuesday 20 October.
  • Good for Age: open until 16:00 GMT on Thursday 29 October. The qualifying window closed on 30 September 2026, so you cannot run a new time for 2027.
  • Charity: places are still listed, for both Saturday and Sunday.
  • British Athletics clubs: 2027 details are due "in the autumn".
  • International: through official tour operators.

How does the London Marathon ballot work?

It is a random draw. The Double FAQs call it "a completely random draw, just like the National Lottery." For 2027 it opened at 09:00 on Friday 24 April 2026 and closed at 16:00 on Friday 1 May. A record 1,338,544 people entered, and every entry went into the draw for both days.

The ballot page sets the UK entry fee at £79.99. Runners who chose to donate their fee went into a second ballot if they missed out in the first, and paid £49.99 if successful. London Marathon Events had not published dates for the 2028 ballot on the pages we checked. The 2027 ballot was open for one week, from 24 April to 1 May 2026.

How do charity places work?

You apply to the charity, not to London Marathon Events. The Run for Charity page lists every charity with entries, split into Saturday and Sunday, and you apply through the charity's own website. Charity runners fundraise for their cause, and the page says each runner gets a personalised Enthuse fundraising page. Check what your charity asks you to raise before you apply.

The two-day format added places. The Double FAQs say all UK charities were invited to apply for Saturday entries, from one up to 200 each, and that Sunday charity entries had already been allocated.

What about running clubs, overseas runners and MyWay?

Running clubs. Clubs affiliated to England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Welsh Athletics or Athletics Northern Ireland receive guaranteed entries based on the number of first-claim members aged over 18. For 2026, clubs with 40 to 189 members got one place and clubs with 190 or more got two. The club entry page says 2027 details will follow in the autumn, and the Double FAQs say clubs "will get more places in 2027".

Overseas runners. International places go through official tour operators. Sports Tours International is listed as the official overseas tour operator.

MyWay. The virtual TCS London Marathon MyWay lets you run 26.2 miles outdoors, anywhere, on Saturday 24 or Sunday 25 April 2027. The UK entry fee is £40. It does not put you on the London course, but a MyWay time can count towards Good for Age, alongside an in-person half marathon time.

I have a place. What now?

Start planning the training. London Marathon Events offers free 16-week plans, and our London Marathon 2027 training and diet plan lays them out month by month with the nutrition for each phase. For a sense of what the course can hold, Paula Radcliffe's 2:15:25 from 2003 is still the women's course record for a mixed race, as told in her three London wins.

Where Immufix fits.

Getting a place is the hard part, and the training that follows takes months. Immufix is one 25g scoop in around 200ml of water, once a day, as part of a varied diet. Riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6 and magnesium contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Magnesium also contributes to normal muscle function. Paula Radcliffe has taken it every morning since 1998. Every amount is on the science page.
